National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) currently has more than two thousand international students spanning five continents enrolled, many of them are Muslims. Ramadan brings students from around university community to a prayer room for an evening of interaction, food and prayer.

NCKU President Huey-Jen Jenny Su celebrated this special occasion with Muslim students at the evening of July 1.

President Su told the students that a new prayer room will set up on campus, which will be spacious enough to accommodate more than 50 Muslim students.

The pray room is expected to be the biggest gathering place for Muslims in southern Taiwan, according to Su.

Several small prayer rooms had set up at the departments in the university to meet the need of Muslim students for daily pray.

According to one of the Muslim students, Ramadan is the ninth month on the Islamic calendar and Muslims fast from dawn to dusk each day.

As dusk fell, Muslims sat at tables with members of other religious groups and shared their traditions over a meal.

A total of more than two hundred Muslim students are studying at NCKU, according to NCKU Office of International Affairs.

Ramadan this year began in the evening of Wednesday, June 17 and ends in the evening of Friday, July 17.
