Honduras Ambassador gives a talk on Honduran history at NCKU - Noodls

Honduras Ambassador to Taiwan Rafael Fernando Sierra Quesada gave a talk on Honduras, the country, its people, its culture, and the diplomatic relationships with Taiwan at the Institute of International Management (IIMBA), National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Tainan, Taiwan, on June 17.

International students from America, Canada, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, and Honduras, and some local students in Taiwan attended the talk to get to know Honduras more.

Sierra’s talk initializes with the Honduran history and Honduras nowadays, to explain this it is included information about the geography, government structure, economy, demographics and culture.

“Honduras is a beautiful country with friendly people,” said Sierra.

Honduras, in the north-central part of Central America, has a Caribbean as well as a Pacific coastline. Guatemala is to the west, El Salvador to the south, and Nicaragua to the east, according to Sierra.

When talking about its capital city, he said, “Tegucigalpa means mountains of gold, and with its twin city, Comayagüela, separated by the Choluteca River.”

Also he introduced the national shield which represents Honduran history and the rich variety of national resources.

Moreover, the importance of the relationship between Honduras and Taiwan had emphasized and explained in his talk.

In addition, a short official tourism promotional video was displayed in the talk to let all the students explore Honduras beauty and natural resources.

Honduran student Cindy Galeas who is currently studying in IIMBA, NCKU, said, “I came to Taiwan to study because I want to learn more about the culture and be exposed to a different way of thinking than ours.”

“I think the relationship between Honduras and Taiwan is very good,” according to Galeas, “and Taiwan is well-known back home as a country with great opportunities and well-recognized education.”
