Global Brands Management Association (GBMA) hosted a meeting with international students at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) to inform them an opportunity for summer internship at global companies including MediaTek, PWC, TSC, Everlight Chemical, BIONET Corp. and Shopping 99.
Nearly 60 students from southeast and south Asia attended the meeting at International Conference Room, NCKU, on May 27.
The Global Young Leader for Global Markets Project initiated by GBMA will offer young talents with possible intern jobs, employment and CSR, according to GBMA Chairman Louis Chen who is also a professor from National Taipei University of Technology.
He said, With regard to the high growth of Southeast and India markets, Taiwan companies need to explore ASEAN and India markets.
GBMA hopes to train global young leaders for Taiwan companies, universities and the world, and corporate strategies and CSR are integrated, he added.
Students will fill in the application for intern job first. After the qualification is checked, the candidates will be interviewed for further qualification. Training Courses will also be arranged before the intern job begins, according to Chen.
“I saw the opportunity to have the internship, so I gave it a shot,” said Chattraphat Hemachaisit, a student from Thailand who is studying in the Institute of International Management at NCKU.
He also said, “After graduation, I’d like to get some work experience in Taiwan first, maybe one or two years before I go back to Thailand.”
“My first priority will be get into a global company for the diversified environment,” he added.
Another student Rendy Purra Setyanan from Indonesia attending the meeting for possible internship said, “I’m interested in supply chain and a little bit finance. I’d like to apply for internship in Everlight Chemical if possible.”
Ky Inobelle from Burkina Faso said, “I came to this meeting because it’s about global marketing, and I’d like to have professional contact and exchange cultural information here.”
The ASEAN and Indian markets will be expanding more quickly in future years as the economic center in Asia shifts southward, according to Chen.
In order to keep up with the market, Taiwan needs to be more engaging in developing the international young talents in Taiwan, he said.
After the meeting at NCKU, a forum organized by PwC and GBMA was held in Taipei to open up a discussion about the future human resource strategies and outlook in the ASEAN and Indian market.
