Dutch Design Post x Pecha Kucha Night kicks off at 321 Artist Village - CNA
(中央社訊息服務20150602 11:54:06)Bart van Bueren, Visiting Expert at the Department of Architecture in National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Tainan, Taiwan, hosted the Dutch Design Post x Pecha Kucha Night at the 321 Artist Village on May 29, the university revealed.
The DDP facilitates designers from the Netherlands at a ‘Dutch trading-post house’ at 321 Artist Village, Tainan to do business together with Taiwan sectors.
The DDP was initiated by the College of Planning and Design at NCKU and its Culture and Creativity Incubation and R&D Center (CCIRDC), in collaboration with the Netherlands Trade & Investment Office (NTIO) and the Tainan City Government Bureau of Cultural Affairs.
For the DDP, the Pecha Kucha Night was a celebration, because one year ago at May 5, the venue was officially opened. Since then, more than 30 Dutch Designers visited the Dutch Design Post and collaborated closely with NCKU students at the Dutch Design Course in practice-oriented projects, according to Bart van Bueren.
Van Bueren said, “Since ancient times, already the Dutch and Taiwanese share history together. With the DDP, we are building a community here. I invite Dutch people to come over with a great idea and the DDP together with the Taiwanese students, experts and businesses facilitates them.”
Van Bueren looked forward to the second anniversary and hoped there would be an even bigger celebration under sponsorship of Heineken, one of the world’s most famous beer brands that originates from the Netherlands and partners Holland (NTIO), CCIRDC and the Tainan Bureau of Cultural Affairs.
The Pecha Kucha concept involves short presentations of 20 slides in total, whereby each slide is displayed for only 20 seconds. The pace of the presentations is really fast and sometimes creates trouble for participants who cannot pitch their story within the required time. Official organizer for Pecha Kucha Nights in Tainan is PhD student Leslie Tsai.
The DDP x PKN at the 321 Artist Village on May 29 saw presentations by Annemarie van Hoof (4-Options), Ties Carlier (VanMoof Bicycle), Marco Heusdens (PilotFish), Floris Boogaard (Hanze Hogeschool), Mike Veldstra (Film Director), Nienke Bongers (Alissa & Nienke), Diederik van der Toorn (NTIO).
Two mystery guests were announced before the event. They appeared to be Monique Borsboom from Dorel, a renowned producer of baby car seats and Bart Linssen from Enercon GmbH, a high tech firm who designs and installs wind turbines all over the globe.
Bart Linssen said he felt somewhat uncomfortable, because he is more engineer than designer. Nevertheless, his work is valuable for communities all around the world and The Netherlands knows a long history in this field. From ancient windmills for grinding to highly efficient and sustainable wind turbines; the Dutch have always been at the forefront in innovation.
In all, the DDP x PKN at 321 Artist Village showcased some of the finest products and services in innovation, creativity and advanced technology Dutch entrepreneurs and designers had to offer.
