NCKU to celebrate anniversary Dutch Design Post with Pecha Kucha Night - Noodls
National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Department of Architecture visiting expert, waterarchitect and founder of the Dutch Design Post (DDP) Bart van Bueren will host Dutch Design Post x Pecha Kucha Night at the 321 Artist Village on Friday, May 29th, 20:00 pm.
The occasion is the one year celebration for the Dutch Design Post, because one year ago at May 5th, the DDP was officially opened.
This is part two of the celebration as there was already a big Dutch Design Dialogue at Taiwan Design Center in Zhongshan Park Taipei on May 2nd this year. Organizer for the Tainan PKN is NCKU PhD student Leslie Tsai.
The DDP facilitates designers from the Netherlands at a 'Dutch trading-post house' at 321 Artist Village, Tainan to do business together with Taiwan sectors. The DDP was initiated by the College of Planning and Design at NCKU and its Culture and Creativity Incubation and R&D Center (CCIRDC), in collaboration with the Netherlands Trade & Investment Office (NTIO) and the Tainan City Government Bureau of Cultural Affairs.
DDP director Bart van Bueren proudly recalls: "Since the opening last year, more than 30 Dutch Designers visited the Dutch Design Post, all of them were enthusiastic and would like to come again. Two of them have concrete plans already to return to Tainan for business. Among them the famous Dutch fashion designer Allan Vos."
"Besides, in the last two semesters over 10 Dutch Designers collaborated with NCKU students at the Dutch Design Course. This courses is special for NCKU, because the students will work closely with the foreign designers in practical-oriented projects."
"What's more, this summer, 11 students from the Institute for Creative & Industrial Design (ICID) and the department of Industrial Design will go to the Netherlands and enroll in traineeships at renowned international design agencies like PilotFish and Metabolic."
The Pecha Kucha concept involves short presentations of 20 slides in total, whereby each slide is displayed for only 20 seconds. The DDP x PKN at the 321 Artist Village on May 29th will see presentations by Frederik van Roijé (Product & Interior Designer), Annemarie van Hoof (4-Options), Ties Carlier (VanMoof Bicycle), Marco Heusdens (PilotFish), Floris Boogaard (Hanze Hogeschool), Mike Veldstra (Film Director), Nienke Bongers (Alissa & Nienke), Diederik van der Toorn (NTIO) and Bart van Bueren.
In addition, two mystery speakers are scheduled but their names will remain a surprise until the night of celebration. Another special guest that will be around is the world famous Miffy. Participants can take their picture with this Dutch bunny.
Besides NCKU and DDP, other partners in this event are Holland (NTIO), CCIRDC and the Tainan Bureau of Cultural Affairs. Main sponsor of the Pecha Kucha Night is Heineken, one of world's most famous beer brands that originate from the Netherlands.
