Exhibition features design and management research to kick off at NCKU - Noodls

The Institute of Creative Industries and Design (ICID) in National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Tainan, Taiwan, will host an exhibition named "db.Exhibition - Bridging the Gap" to show the result of practical-based research. An opening ceremony will be held on May 16 at C-Hub.

According to ICID, a presentation showcasing the ten students' research findings and a forum attended by the students' supervisors and industrial coaches will be held on May 16.

In addition, posters introduced each research will be displayed at the opening day and then moved to the open-space of ICID in NCKU from May 17 to 28.

NCKU ICID has been engaging in promoting the cross-disciplinary cooperation and doing the innovative industrial researches, aware that the gaps between school and industry, and launched the course shunting system of db.School Program in the spring of 2014.

The db.School program integrated the creative energy of college of Planning and Design (d. college) and the solid training of college of Management (b. college), and then, formed the "Practice-based Track" research model.

In 2014, db.school had hold the integrated practice simulation workshop, "BootCamp," introducing the proactive problem from industries and invited experts from the industries to join in, using design-thinking to figure out the realistic research proposals.

Moreover, db.school invited mentors to co-advise and establish the industry-academic co-adviser system. Coaches from the industry act as another supervisor and helped the student to execute the research works in the real field.

The inviting entrepreneurs included several domains, such as cultural-creative department store, cultural-aesthetic hotel, organic-ecology, and industry innovation et al.

After more than half-year implementation, observation, and discussing within the industries, a total of 10 db.school students are holding an exhibition at C-Hub, NCKU on May 16.

Their research topics include the collaborative model between international designers, the influences of music and aroma on consumer behavior, developing a service design pattern with backpackers' expectation, cultural differences in tourist experience, a value co-creation model for experience communication, language based ideation platform for interaction design, innovation in city creative production system, innovative business model of paper industry, and organic peninsula challenging.
