NCKU campus run kicks off - Noodls
The 2015 NCKU campus race, ’WE RUN,’ kicks off on April 25 at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Tainan, Taiwan. NCKU President Huey-Jen Jenny Su and Vice President for Student Affairs Yuk-Ying Tung, attended the event with students, faculties, and citizens.
By 8 o'clock in the morning, nearly two thousand students, faculties, and citizens gathered at the sports field at the Kuang-Fu campus of NCKU.
President Su said, "It feels great to run for health with all of you. At NCKU, we foster students with multidimensional skills. Students are expected to be remarkable both as students and as athletes.”
NCKU will reserve several seats for student-athletes to go abroad. It will be a valuable opportunity to learn from other national teams. Hope that student-athletes at NCKU strive for the opportunity to attend international competitions on behalf of NCKU, according to President Su.
A total of 1709 people, including 1447 students, 62 faculties, and 200 local residents participated in the 2015 NCKU campus race. The race is divided into male and female groups.
The female teams run 3 km in total, while the male teams run 5 km. First, the female team runs a circle of the Kuang-Fu sports field. Then they turn to the Banyan Garden, Yun-Ping Administrative Building, Kuang-Fu gate, and eventually back to the sports field.
This year, the Physical Education Office set up a ‘Physical Injury Protection Consult Center’ under the speech platform at the sports field.
The opening ceremony of the center was held on April 25. It provides consulting service for students and faculties about physical injury protection and physical therapeutic treatment.
Professors from the Department of Orthopedics and the Department of Physical Therapy of Medical School, along with professors from the Institute of Physical Education, Health and Leisure Studies, will take turns providing the service.
In addition, President Su presents flags to the NCKU badminton team, tennis team, table-tennis team, Tae Kwon Do team, track-and-field team, and the swimming team, as they are about to attend the National Intercollegiate Athletic Games. She encouraged students to show their sportsmanship for the honor of NCKU.
