NCKU Physical Fitness Week kicks off - Noodls
The Fitness Center at Sheng-Li Campus of National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) set up an aerobic exercise classroom recently to provide students and faculties with an ideal indoor exercising environment, according to the university.
Among the total of 35 bikes, 8 bikes are special designed bikes that could generate electricity. The idea of green energy is promoted while people are exercising.
NCKU President Huey-Jen Jenny Su hosted the opening ceremony of the aerobic exercise classroom on April 20 and she rode the spinning bike, along with students and teachers. Everyone felt energetic and relaxed after exercising.
According to President Su, the 20th NCKU Physical Fitness Week manifests NCKU’s long attention to health care. It is a good chance to remind students the importance of exercise in addition to academic research.
Moreover, NCKU will begin the construction of a new indoor swimming pool and a multipurpose sports center this year.
A fund raising campaign will be launched to solve the problem of fund shortage. The campaign also aims to build a connection among NCKU, students, faculties, and the community.
President Su stressed that NCKU hopes the new indoor swimming pool and multipurpose sports center can be used efficiently for maintaining good health of students, teachers, and all Tainan residents.
This year, we will call for 200 students and teachers to generate electricity by riding modified bicycle and many other physical equipment. Our goal is to generate 2500 watt power, which is able to provide 62.5 hours power for light bulb with 40 candelas, revealed by professor Li-Chuan Lin, the chairman of Physical Education Office.
Moreover, the ‘Physical Fitness Management and Consult Service Center’ is established for giving appropriate and useful advice. Professors from the Department of Orthopedics and the Department of Physical Therapy of Medical School will take turns providing the service.
The 2015 campus race, ’WE RUN,’ catches even more attention. On April 25, 8 a.m., all students, faculties at NCKU, and Tainan citizens are welcome to run in the campus. Students with the best records will be chosen as the ambassador for promoting NCKU Physical Fitness Week.
The construction of the new indoor swimming pool and the multipurpose sports center are expected to be finished in 2017.
