Honduras ambassador visit NCKU to boost up academic collaboration - Noodls
Honduran Ambassador to Taiwan Rafael Fernando Sierra Quesada recently visited National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) to advance academic collaboration in renewable energy.
NCKU President Huey-Jen Jenny Su congratulated the Ambassador with the beginning of his diplomatic activity and wished him success in his future mission.
Highlighting the relations between NCKU and Honduras, President Su said successful cooperation between the two countries lies in the field of education.
Ambassador Sierra, who was visiting Tainan for the first time, praised NCKU for being a distinguished university in Taiwan, appreciated accepting students from Honduras and said he looked forward to furthering cooperation with NCKU.
Sierra is particularly interested in the International Bachelor Degree Program on Energy (IBDP-E) which is comprehensively co-organized by the faculties from the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics (DAA) and the College of Engineering.
He said, “Honduras is a country with rivers and we are one of the best in the world for solar power energy. What I read is that the average number of sunny hours is 4 in the world and Honduras has 6.5 in some areas.”
Honduras is an ideal country to develop renewable energy. So it's very important for our students to join the IBDP-E in NCKU, according to Sierra.
Chairman of DAA Chin-Hsiang Cheng said, one month ago, I had a chance to visit Honduras to talk about NCKU and we invited Ambassador to come to NCKU to fulfill his commitment.
Sierra said, currently, we have three people to join the program and next semester we will have more.
He also noted, Honduras president is very supportive in developing energy, maybe in the future we can have a university or research lab over there because Honduras is a really good place where universities can send students to Honduras to do research.
