NCKU hosts Chinese New Year Gala for foreign students

Recently a gala celebration of the Chinese New Year was organized by National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) Office of International Affair (OIA) to celebrate the coming Year of the Sheep with over 350 international students gathering together.
NCKU Chinese New Year Gala has been one of the most important events for international community in the university.
It is a great opportunity to network with international students from China and other Asian countries and regions, according to the university.
Beside the banquet, the office also organized culture performance, lucky draw and an awarding ceremony of academic excellence awards.
According to OIA, many students from Hong Kong, southeast Asia and other regions will go back to their home countries during the winter break.
The university usually hosts a gala at the end of semester to celebrate new year with international students.
Representatives from the Ministry of Education, Executive Yuan Overseas Chinese Affairs Commission, and the Ministry of Interior Immigration Department in Tainan were also attended the gala to celebrate the coming of year of the sheep with the students.
OIA Associate Vice President Prof. Jen-Sue Chen offered her best wishes to the students saying, “In the coming new year of the sheep everyone will have a good time staying in the university.”
She said, the majority of international students are from Hong Kong, Macao, and Southeast Asia. The hosts of the gala speak Mandarin, English, Thai, Malay, and Indonesian to give students a sense of familiarity.
