NCKU students organize TEDxTainan to share new thoughts - Business Wire
TAINAN, Taiwan--(BUSINESS WIRE)--TEDxTainan, one of the TEDx conferences held to promote ideas worth spreading, kicked off on December 14 at Tainan Wu Garden. A group of students from National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Tainan, Taiwan, are involved in organizing the event.
The curator of TEDxTainan, Chia-En Lai, a psychology student in NCKU said, “We shape our own future by organizing inspirational talks in this event together.”
The theme of TEDxTainan this year is “The Era for New Thoughts.” Lai said, “We have invited a total of 15 speakers from different fields including designers, educators, entrepreneurs, makers, inventors, and many more to share their inspirational stories and new thoughts”.
One of the team members, Jonathan You, talked about why he joined TEDxTainan saying, “I joined TEDxTainan in order to contribute to the community in whatever ways I can, especially in translation, where I can help more people understand the talks.”
Economics student You, taking care of the budgets and cash flows, said, “Everyone has his or her own roles in organizing this event, and it takes the enthusiasm of this whole group to get the job done. No one is expendable.”
TEDxTainan was organized by students who love Tainan and want to share local culture to the world. Most of members are NCKU students and alumni. They would like to invite people in Tainan to connect with international community.
NCKU alumni and one of founders of TEDxTainan, Yen-Chi Ho, said that there's strong need for the local talents to connect to the world more tightly, to show the world what we've got and to become an international paradigm.
One of TEDxTainan speakers this year is Wei-Mu Lee, a Tainan-based theater director. He will share his own story of how to generate new ideas based on his theatrical profession.
Another speaker Dr. Wen-Yu Su, NCKU professor of information engineering, will share his idea of where his invention, “Lulu's Hand,” begins and a goal to help coffee lovers to brew a perfect cup of coffee.
TEDxTainan, an independently organized TEDx conference, featured in local concern about Tainan.
As a platform for speakers from diverse discipline and culture, TEDxTainan with yearly conference and events shares the ideas on technology, art, education, and everything in between.
