Culture and creativity workshops for design talents held at NCKU
Tainan, Taiwan, December 2, 2014
The International Conference on Culture and Creativity (ICCC) 2014 Pre-conference Workshops are currently taking place at C-Hub of National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Tainan, Taiwan, with more than thirty participants from Taiwan, China, Korea, Singapore, Finland, USA, the Netherlands, Portugal and Macau to explore the issues of creative design.
The three-day workshops will end on December 3 with a final representation of new projects from the participants.
ICCC 2014 organizes two tracks of workshop – “Cultural Wisdom” and “Positive Creativity,” said NCKU Professor Shuenn-Ren Liou who is one of the two instructors in the workshops.
People of different nationalities and widely diversified backgrounds including students, professors, researchers, artists, and even bankers are gathering here to work together, according to Prof. Liou.
“I’m in charge of “Cultural Wisdom” workshop which will use the C-Hub as case model, where participants can apply design philosophy technique to pitch ideas of business models to support the operation of C-hub as the factory that produces creativity,” said Prof. Liou who is also the director of NCKU’s Institute of Creative Industry Design (ICID).
“Cultural Wisdom” workshop includes a short lecture on Design Philosophy, a field investigation to C-hub, and the method application to the case.
Assigned to groups working on a proposal, participants are expecting to finish a Tainan-based project in creating business models, according to Prof. Liou.
The other workshop, “Positive Creativity,” is led by Prof. Ding-Bang Luh. He said, the workshop is about redesigning the experiences of traditional rituals.
Participants are invited to redesign the experience, according to Prof. Luh, and after field investigation on Tainan local culture of eating and drinking, the participants working in groups are expecting to come up with projects in experience design of cultural ritual.
