NCKU to open MRI Center - Noodls

National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) will announce the opening of its Mind Research and Imaging (MRI) Center on November 8, the university revealed today.

The opening ceremony of MRI Center and symposium will take place on November 8 at the 4th Lecture Hall, NCKU College of Medicine.

Dr. Birte U. Fortsmann from University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and Dr. Kai-Hsiang Chuang from National University of Singapore are invited by NCKU to give keynote speeches at the symposium followed by the opening ceremony on November 8.

According to the center, in 2009, NCKU former President, Academician Michael Ming-Chiao Lai made a proposal for “the Public Service for Research Equipment of Mental Science - Equipment service and researcher incubation” to obtain the support from the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST).

Since 2010, NCKU Vice President Dr. Chih-Chin Ho had led the entire MRI members and professors from Department of Psychology and Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering to carry out this project.

For last five years, ex-Director General Deng, present Director General Shaw and all other committee members from the MOST's Department of Humanities and Social Sciences have given a great deal of suggestions and entire MRI group have made great efforts to this project.

NCKU is happy to announce that MRI center has been officially in operation and charged for use. The center offers service for people who are willing to study cognitive neuroscience and brain imaging.
