NCKU hosts international symposium on energy technology and strategy - Noodls
The 2014 International Symposium on Energy Technology and Strategy (ISETS 2014) organized by the Research Center for Energy Technology and Strategy (RCETS) of the National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) is held on October 27-28 at NCKU, southern Taiwan.
At the opening ceremony on October 27, NCKU President Hwung-Hweng Hwung extended his warm welcome to the guests from around the world. He introduced RCETS as one of the four most prominent research centers at NCKU and also a premier energy research center in Taiwan.
RCETS Director Prof. Ta-Hui Lin who is also the symposium chairman said, RCETS has annually hosted the ISETS since 2011.
The theme of ISETS 2014 is Global Collaboration on Energy Research and Talent Cultivation, according to Prof. Lin.
Petre B. Littlewood from Argonne National Laboratory (ANL), United States, attended the opening ceremony and said, we look forward to building more collaboration that we can have between our groups.
“We have a number of cooperated projects going on with NCKU,” said Littlewood, “and one particular example is in the area of solar power with nano center and RCETS.”
“We’re also thinking about opportunity together with wind and grid and also combustion. So these are new things that I believe haven’t started yet but I hope will have opportunity to make those work,” according to Littlewood.
He also said, ANL as one of the 17 departments of energy research lab in America focuses on the underline science for renewable energy.
The symposium intends to build and strengthen international collaboration links, cultivate interdisciplinary talent, and promote the exchange of gifted and talented students and prominent researchers between Taiwan and other countries, according to Prof. Lin.
