In such a large campus as National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), southern Taiwan, riding bicycles are the most common mode of transportation among students.

To remind students the safety rules of cycling, the Office of Students Affairs posted a video that stimulates an accidental collision between a bike and a car.

The two-minute video made by a Japanese High School was first released in April this year and accumulates nearly 1300 views.

The mock traffic accident urges students to understand the deadly dangers of careless cycling.

Student Wang said, “The video is so graphic that makes me realize the importance of traffic safety. I will be very careful from now on whether riding a bicycle or a motorcycle.”

According to Military Training Office, the second week of every semester, NCKU will hold a one-week campaign to promote cycling safety.

General Education of National Defense will teach students safety precaution for cycling.

Besides, a course of “Service Learning-Traffic Safety Learning” will be opened every fall semester. Students who enroll in the course will help inspect the traffic facilities in and around the campus, to ensure the facilities are functioning.

Office of Student Affairs urges students to give up bad cycling habits. Even in and around campus, cautious cycling habits are required to avoid accidents.
