NCKU professors in national energy program visits TGI to foster academia-industry collaboration - Noodls
The research team led by Dr. Yung-Chun Lee from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), southern Taiwan, has carried out National Energy Program-Phase II (NEP-II), the university revealed recently.
The team has visited headquarter of Taiwan Glass Ind. Corp. (TGI) to further understand demands of the industry and strengthen academia-industry collaboration on August 4.
The objectives of NEP-II is to achieve industrial developmental targets, leveraging international collaboration, and fostering opportunities to further strengthen Taiwan's energy related industries.
The executive framework of NEP includes six focus centers - energy conservation focus center, alternative energy focus center, smart grid focus center, offshore wind power and marine energy focus center, geothermal energy and gas hydrate focus center, and carbon reduction and clean coal focus center.
Dr. Lee's team is involving in the energy conservation focus center.
With industrialization in mind, the vision of the energy conservation focus center is to plan the development of future energy-saving technologies. The top priority is to focus on the needs of the industry.
The team members include NCKU Mechanical Engineering professor Dr. Yu-Lung Lo, Dr. Ming-Chang Lu from National Chiao Tung University, and Dr. Ming-Tsang Lee from Nationl Chung Hsing University.
Through mutual discussion and exchange, the research team has gained more detailed and specific market demands and trends that will allow the developing technology to meet the requirements in the industry.
Dr. Lee said, this year marks the fiftieth anniversary of TGI, and in this memorable occasion, this visit is significant in fostering collaborative efforts to elevate the prospect of energy industry in Taiwan.
