NCKU, LDS church co-host family history expo

The Department of History at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), southern Taiwan, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS church) to co-host "Family History and Family Tree Expo" on April 4-5 at the stadium of Gongyuan Elementary School, Tainan.
“This activity shows that we respect our ancestors and to be able to have them not only in our memories for being the ancestors but also be able to know and understand what are the motives in our actions,” said Joseph Stringham.
Strigham who is one of the members in charge of the family history added, “This also shows what are the values the ancestors have and to be able to carry those values and give them to our children.”
The LDS church is the primary benefactor for FamilySearch services, which is a nonprofit family history organization dedicated to connecting families across generations.
“FamilySearch means collecting all the records and putting them in a place that is accessible for everyone,” said Isabell Stringham, another member of the family history.
She also said, “The church has been collecting records all over the world for over a hundred and forty years.”
We strive to create and link the best and most valuable research resources to help people discover who they are by exploring where they come from, she added.
The expo was categorized into ten sections including genealogy scroll display area, digital archives and micro-film play area.
The expo is a two-day event from 9am to 5pm, April 4-5, and the opening ceremony will be held at 9:00 on the 4th.
