NCKU initiates Career Coaching Program to connect students to business

Tainan, Taiwan, January 8, 2014

National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), southern Taiwan, has initiated a 4-month “Career Coaching Program” on January 4 and invited business executives from local companies to help students to understand the business and provide useful tips on how to apply for a job in the coming future.

A total of 20 professionals served as coaches appeared at the gala to meet up with 200 students from various departments in the university.

In the following four months, the coaches are going to instruct the students to equip with everything they need to know in a business.

NCKU Vice-President Hong-Sen Yan on behalf of President Hwung-Hweng Hwung welcomed the coaches and said that this program has entered the fourth year which owes the coaches who are selflessly devoted their valuable time to help students to get ready for the career.

Yan has referred to his own experience and encouraged the students to make careful plan on their life and get a good balance between work, family and health.

Students are able to realize their dreams and fulfill their goals will be the greatest comfort for the teachers and the honor for the school.

In recognition of their contribution to the students and the university, Yan has represented certificates of appreciation to the 20 coaches.

The Chief executive officer of Horizon Group Ltd. Teddy Cheng who is one of the coaches said that this is a very meaningful program in which students will be familiarized with the basics in the business.

He also noted that NCKU students possess the ability to engage in multiple interests and with good attitude their future will be bright and prosperous.

Tsai-Chen Wu, a senior from the Department of Foreign Literature at NCKU, who is also interested in travel business, said that she is very excited to be selected as a member in the group organized by

Wu said, joining the program and involving in the tourism group will facilitate her to get the whole picture of tourism in Taiwan and the differences in the positions offered in the business.

The Career Coaching Program has came to the fourth year in which a total of 88 coaches are invited to instruct 924 students during the four years. This year the 200 students are selected from more than 360 applicants, according to the university.
