NCKU proposes white paper on happy Taiwan - Noodls

"Everyone's definition and feelingNational Cheng Kung University (NCKU) hosted the "2013 Happiness Technology and Happy Taiwan Summit" on November 22 at the NCKU Department of Electrical Engineering with experts and scholars in the related field gathered to explore issues on happiness.
They had proposed the White Paper on Happy Taiwan, hoping that the Taiwanese government will take proactive measures to promote happiness among Taiwanese people.
"Everyone's definition and feeling of happiness is different and the simplest understanding of happiness is 'eat well, sleep well'," NCKU President Hwung-Hweng Hwung noted while welcoming all the participating guests. "However, the Taiwanese people have not been satisfied with their lives."
Calling on the Taiwanese government to look into this issue, President Hwung showed his support to Dr. Jhing-Fa Wang's research on Orange Technology which focuses on promoting human happiness and joy while encouraging people to lead a happy and healthy life.
According to Dr. Wang, this summit revolves around research on Happiness Technology and Happy Taiwan as its main theme.
Scholars and experts were invited to discuss about policies on happiness with two main goals in mind: first, to educate the government and the people on happiness technology, and second, to brainstorm on ways to create a happy technology so that this technology can bring health, happiness and care to people.
The White Paper on Happy Taiwan proposed in this summit advocates that the Executive Yuan should immediately begin planning and implementing policies on happiness…" Dr Wang revealed during the summit, "… and hence, based on this policy, develop happiness technology, establish happiness industry, implement happiness education, promote happy society, develop happiness economy to replace traditional economy, develop happiness index and so on to achieve the goal of establishing Happy Taiwan."
The summit includes several keynote speeches such as "Happy Taiwan and Government Efficiency" by TCF Director Ching-Peng Peng, "Happiness Technology and Happy Society" by NCKU Institute of Creative Industries Design (ICID) Professor Dr. Shyh-Nan Liu, "Happiness Technology and Health Care" by NCKU Research and Services Headquarters Deputy Director Chih-Han Chang and "Happiness Technology and Industry Innovation" by Institute for Information Industry (III) Deputy Director Gary Gong.
The forum session during this summit was hosted by NCKU Chair Professor and Tajen University President Dr. Jhing-Fa Wang, with III Deputy Director Gary Gong, Dr. Chih-Han Chang, Dr. Shyh-Nan Liu and Dr. Ching-Hsien Huang as speakers.
The concept of Orange Technology integrates technologies on health, happiness and care, according to Dr. Wang.
The integrative, innovative and progressive features of such technology is the world's first, pioneered by Taiwan, Dr. Wang noted, and technology related to health including health care and hygiene, biotechnology, allied health science and others, has experienced significant level of research and development (R&D).
However, industrial application and implementation as well as R&D of happiness technology and care technology are still miles behind.
Following Bhutan's introduction of the Gross National Happiness (GNH) Index to enhance happiness of its people, Dr. Wang revealed, many countries have gradually include social indicators to measure the satisfaction and happiness of people in their respective countries, viewing such measures to indicate a country's competitiveness which slowly replaces the United Nations' concept of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) as the overall measurement index of people in a country.
