European companies to offer job opportunities for NCKU graduates
Tainan, Taiwan, November 21, 2013
European Chamber of Commerce Taiwan (ECCT) and National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), southern Taiwan, has signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on November 21 to initiate the Internship/ Employment Program that later expanded to the chamber’s scale.
A total of 14 ECCT member companies have pledged to offer internship or employment opportunities to the NCKU students and graduates in order to strengthen the reciprocal relationship between the two sides.
ECCT Chairman Giuseppe Izzo and NCKU Vice President Hong-Sen Yan on behalf of President Hwung-Hweng Hwung co-sign the MoU at the Tainan Low Carbon City Conference witnessed by Tainan Mayor Ching-Te Lai.
Izzo said that the start of internship is a good advantage for both the students and the companies. “We have 14 companies basically associated to Low Carbon Initiative offering programs of internship or employment to the graduate from NCKU.”
He also said, “We believe that this internship program can be tailored as especially summer jobs to students who may learn how to practice on the job for a while and then come back to study and get more ready for the occupation.”
ECCT CEO Freddie Hoeglund added, “European presence in the south of Taiwan has not very prevalent so we push this a lot harder.”
“This is a great opportunity for European companies to get more engaged outside of Taipei and this is why this cooperation also very important for us.”
He said, NCKU is one of the best renowned universities in Taiwan and this is a great opportunity to realize the cooperation and this is one of the reasons why we are here.
When being asked about the preference of the students’ field of study for the job, Hoeglund said,” The wider the boarder the better.”
“There is cooperation and automatically once the program starts to grow, people will find suitable slots for them,” Hoeglund noted.
ECCT and NCKU agree to develop a collaborative partnership to promote student internships and graduate employment and the MoU takes effect on November 21, 2013 and will remain in force for three years.
The 14 companies include Schneider Electric, Infravest Wind Power Group, STMicroelectronics, Siemens Limited Taiwan, TÜV Rheinland Taiwan, Audi Taiwan, Atlas Copco Taiwan Ltd., Ericsson Taiwan Ltd., and Robert Bosch Taiwan.
