NCKU aiRobots lab brings home international honors - Noodls

The aiRobots Laboratory at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), southern Taiwan, led by NCKU electrical engineering professor Li Tzuu-hseng (李祖聖), developed adult-sized robots which recently won international awards including the All-round Championship of Federation of International Robot-Soccer Association (FIRA).
The robots have won international robot championship awards, and represent advancement in domestic-designed robots for the household environment, the university said.
In addition to domestic-designed robots, the adult-sized robots had competed with other roboticists from other counties and won 2 gold, 4 silver medals, and All-round Championship at FIRA which is hosted at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Li said he felt gratitude for the support and funding from NCKU and Edrington Taiwan, one of the operating companies under The Edrington Group.
With the money, the students can afford to travel aboard to exchange learning experience and ideas with students from other countries, which is very important, according to Li.
More than 50 teams from 12 countries joined 2013 FIRA in Malaysia, added Li.
The competition in accordance with the robot appearance, functionality is divided into five categories including the climbing steps, playing football, and basketball shooting. Enditem/
