Tainan, Taiwan, August 14, 2013
“Questioning is the key of initiative learning,” according to Dr. Chi-Chuan Hwang, the main organizer of the Quester’s College at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), southern Taiwan, “and we aspire to ignite the students’ interests in knowledge by facilitating them with basic sciences including physics, mathematics, philosophy and history.”
NCKU will host the first workshop of Quester’s College, August 20-23, for the university-student-to-be to get the clear picture of university education and help them to develop a healthy appetite for learning, according to Dr. Hwang.
Dr. Hwang who is also the Chair Professor of the Department of Engineering Science, NCKU, has endeavored to set up the basic principles of seeking knowledge and emphasized the process of inquiring.
The three-day workshop of Quester’s College is well-designed to expand the participants’ educational exposure to a variety of interdisciplinary areas through courses, seminars, and interest group discussions.
“The aim is to ignite students’ interest in extending their learning experiences beyond the traditional subjects and to attain an all-round education experience,” according to Hwang.
The three-day workshop will cover the courses of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, history, philosophy, arts and brain cognition, all instructed by NCKU professors.
In addition to the academic learning, the students will have physical fitness activities in the afternoons and classical music and fine art classes in the evenings.
The workshop will be held free of charge for senior high school students and all the workshop students will be arranged to reside in the dormitory.
