NCKU professor dedicates photography collection to parents

Yu-Cheng Wu, a professor from the department of architecture at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), southern Taiwan, recently published a photography book included over 100 pictures he had took since 2007, which is a milestone of his year-long endeavors to art and thus he said, “I would like to dedicated it to my beloved parents.”
The collection called “Found” conveying an idea of search, it is important to an on-going journey in art, according to Wu adding that the word “Found” here also symbolized the constant search of a city and a life.
Wu claimed that he began working with a camera as an architecture student more than 30 years ago, but “it was not until much later that more artistic attempt began to develop,” he said.
“Apart from the wish to share the findings of my endeavors over the years with friend, I would especially like to dedicate this book to my parents, Hai-fan Wu and A-Mai Fu, for their life-long love and support, without which I would not have had the chance to develop my love for art,” according to Wu who feels the joy of knowing his parents happy and healthy in their old age.
Wu mentioned that the photos selected for this collection were predominantly taken after 2007 and shot using Sony DSC-T100 digital camera.
They are not architectural photographs, but are images related to architecture and the city landscape.
“My search through the eye of the camera has been to capture images with a poetic quality that are quiet while powerful, and abstract while contextual,” Wu noted.
This photography collection is the third collection of Wu’s artwork after a book of calligraphy and a pamphlet of seals both published in 2008.
