NCKU student-designed cards to send for mother’s day
Tainan, Taiwan, May 6, 2013
Various student-designed greeting cards for Mother’s Day have been distributed for free among NCKU campuses recently. A total of 500 copies of “Love Mommy” Mother’s Day greeting cards have prepared by the NCKU Faith Hope Love Society and College of Medicine Evangelical Fellowship members for people to express love for moms.
Meanwhile, the Bliss and Wisdom Youth Society members have also printed 300 thank you cards in 7 different designs and distributed them to students as gifts for their mothers and teachers. Residents at the Shengli female dormitory also joined in the fun by printing 100 pieces of Mother’s Day greeting cards, which were given to students for free.
Every Mother’s Day, the NCKU Faith Hope Love Society and the NCKU College of Medicine Evangelical Fellowship would set up stalls to give out Mother’s Day greeting cards so that these cards would reach the mothers on time.
This year’s theme of Mother’s Day greeting card was “Loving Mommy”, an easy-to-understand and interesting idea.
Both societies distributed the greeting cards through different channels between May 6 and May 10 at the corner of the basketball court in the NCKU Kuangfu campus.
Written cards were then collected at the NCKU College of Medicine Hall to be mailed out.
“Mother’s Day is a day celebrated by all people,” said the spokesperson of the Bliss and Wisdom Youth Society, Li-Heng Huang, a second year medical student. “Perhaps we are busy on normal days, thus neglecting our duty to be filial sons and daughters; only one card with sweet messages and words of gratitude is needed to show your love to your mother and make her happy.”
The NCKU College of Medicine Evangelical Fellowship reminded students not to forget about Mother’s Day and urged students to take this opportunity to express their thoughts and gratitude to their mothers on this special day.
On the other hand, students at the NCKU Bliss and Wisdom Youth Society came up with 7 designs of thank-you cards, with the message “A day of thanks-giving, sending back all the memories, to the very beginning of life, at the intersection of each other’s heart, sowing the seeds of happiness, the flowers of gratitude blossom, thank you, happiness can be so simple”.
These thank-you cards designed by the Bliss and Wisdom Youth Society were not only for mothers. These cards can be given to friends, teachers, and even fathers to convey one’s gratitude to the person they intend to say thank you.
Any student who wants to do so can collect a thank-you card and fill it in before the society members mail the card out on the sender’s behalf.
The society members had set up a stall under the Phoenix Tree in front of the Yunping Building at Kuangfu Campus and students can get a thank you card there until the eve of Mother’s Day.
On the other hand, this was the first time Shengli female dormitory organized a Mother’s Day greeting card activity. The building manager of Shengli Dormitory No. 8, Huei-Pei Huang, a third year transportation management student, came up with 3 designs of Mother’s Day greeting card using beautiful photographs taken by other students, where these three designs included “Mother in the Rain”, “Rose” and “Blank Card”.
“On Mother’s Day, we should tell our mother whatever we feel shy to tell them on normal days,” explained Huei-Pei Huang. She revealed that the number of greeting cards was limited and she hoped that students can quickly take this opportunity to send their sweet messages to their mothers.
Students can exchange for a greeting card with 3 receipts at the service committee room of Shengli female dormitory No. 8, write their messages on the card and then return their written cards to the special box provided at the service committee room before these written cards are mailed out by the committee.
