US’s ARL delegation visits Taiwan’s NCKU to boost up academic collaboration - noodls

Dr. John M. Pellegrino, Director of the US Army Research Laboratory (ARL), recently visited National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), southern Taiwan, with President Hwung-Hweng Hwung, to deepen mutual understanding and broaden the engagement between ARL and NCKU.
NCKU President Hwung-Hweng Hwung, a renowned hydraulic expert, welcomed the delegation, "there's a lot of potential in developing collaborative projects between ARL and NCKU."
With strong research profile in core areas of engineering and technology specifically, NCKU is the prestigious academic institute that ARL is looking forward to fostering partnership in scientific research, said Dr. Pellegrino.
Dr. Pellegrino accompanied by Mr. Kenneth Evensen, Director of Army International Tech Center (ITC), Dr. Misoon Mah, Director of US Asian Office of Aerospace Research and Development (AOARD), and Dr. Tai-Il Mah, AOARD Material Specialist, Japan, was delighted to get acquaintance with NCKU faculty when visiting NCKU Research & Development, College of Engineering, College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, College of Medicine, and College of Science, Feb. 18.
Dr. Pellegrino's delegation had revealed interest in the cutting-edge technology applications including graphene, biomaterials and biomedical device innovated by NCKU professors.
It was Dr. Pellegrino's first visit to NCKU, during which he was impressed by NCKU's overall academic achievement and ongoing scientific research projects.
Pellegrino said he was particularly impressed by NCKU's solid research foundation that has had far-reaching impacts on domestic industry and international institutes.
"NCKU and ARL are expecting to jointly carry out scientific projects with disciplinary efforts and advanced technology," he added.
